Returning Residents to the United States
Returning to the U.S. with your pet requires compliance with CDC, USDA, and CBP regulations. Our team ensures a smooth and legal reentry for your furry or exotic companions.
Prior to leaving the United States, it is highly recommended to obtain additional veterinary documentation while traveling abroad
Overview
Pets reentering the United States from abroad must meet specific health and documentation requirements. Even for returning residents, incomplete paperwork can cause delays or quarantine.
We handle all the necessary steps so your pet can arrive safely and without stress.
What We Do
We manage the reentry process for returning pets:
- Review and verify health certificates, vaccination records, and microchip information
- Coordinate with CDC, USDA, and CBP to ensure compliance
- Liaise with ports of entry to ensure smooth processing
- Provide guidance for all species, including exotic and in-cabin pets
- Arrange home delivery or airline tranfers if your port of arrival is not your final destination
What You Need to Provide
To begin the reentry process, please provide:
- Veterinary health certificates
- Rabies vaccination proof
- Microchip information (number and implantation date)
- Pet details (species, breed, age)
- Planned arrival date, flight details, and port of entry
- Any prior import permits or approvals (if applicable)
- Valid US Passport or state issued ID- non residents must provide a valid Visa or work permit
Our team will review everything and advise if anything additional is needed.
Ports of Entry
Returning pets (except from high-risk countries) can enter through any U.S. port. Pets that have been to High Risk Rabies countries need various documentation to enter at non approved CDC ports
